Boston, MA – Chayanne Nieves Pleaded Guilty to One Count of Receipt of Child Pornography
Boston, MA (June 23, 2022) – On June 22, the Department of Justice announced that 24-year-old Chayanne Nieves pleaded guilty to receipt of child pornography.
Investigations show that from November 30, 2020, until December 3, 2020, Nieves was in communication on Snapchat with an 11-year-old child who lived in Vermont. During this time, Nieves threatened and extorted the child to send him nude photographs of himself.
While searching Nieves’s residence, Nieves, who is a level 3 registered sex offender, confirmed that the Snapchat account that was used to communicate with the child was his. In August of 2021, Nieves was arrested and charged with one count of receipt of child pornography.
In June 2022, Nieves pleaded guilty to one count of receipt of child pornography. A hearing for sentencing is scheduled for September 21, 2022.
Victims of Child Pornography

Victimization through child pornography will never end. Victims who are subjected to this type of abuse have their images placed on the internet for others to view. Unfortunately, the content can never be fully erased or recovered. Instead, they continue to pass from person to person.
Children who are victims often endure immediate consequences. Many victims suffer from physical injuries and pain, feelings of shame, anger, confusion, and unworthiness. They may also become withdrawn or isolate themselves. Unfortunately, many victims become depressed, anxious, or suffer from posttraumatic stress disorder. Additional impacts include:
- Distorted and unhealthy sexuality
- Problems establishing and maintaining healthy relationships with others
- Engaging in risky behaviors (promiscuity, self-mutilation, substances abuse)
- Greater risk of getting ensnared in sexual exploitation
Some of the mental, physical, and emotional impacts on victims can last for their entire life. Dealing with the overwhelming consequences can be challenging. In some cases, victims can reach out to a sexual abuse lawyer in Boston to explore the legal options available to help them move forward.
