Salem, MA – Gilberto Candelario & Heroildo Candelario Sentenced for Several Sex Crimes against Children
Salem, MA (March 17, 2022) – Two Massachusetts brothers were sentenced in Salem Superior Court for a total of 41 charges including rape and other sexual acts.
Reports show that between 2009 and 2016, 49-year-old Gilberto Candelario and 47-year-old Heroildo Candelario repeatedly raped four sisters, starting when they were all between the ages of 9-years-old and 12-years-old. A fifth victim, who was 11-years-old, also came forward about being abused by the two brothers.
Over the years, the two men would repeatedly threaten the girls, offer them alcohol, money, and marijuana.
All five of the victims came forward and reported the abuse after several years.
On March 10, the two brothers were sentenced to life in prison.
Gilberto Candelario will be eligible for parole after 91-years. Heroildo Candelario will be eligible in 74-years.
