Danvers, MA – Mark Ternullo Arrested for Possession of Child Pornography
Danvers, MA (March 10, 2022) – One man was taken into police custody following a disturbing discovery inside his Danvers home.
According to reports, a workman was hired by the landlord to repair water damage in the apartment at 4 Butler Avenue, which was occupied by 68-year-old Mark Ternullo.
While working at the home, the workman found a hidden room in the house. Inside the room, the worker noticed photography paper with several images that he believed “did not look right.” He notified the landlord of the discovery. The landlord called the police.
Investigators received a search warrant for the home and located several boxes filled with illicit photos of children being sexually abused.
Turnello, who was identified as a child psychologist, was taken into police custody and faces charges of possession of child pornography. The state of Massachusetts suspended his license to work as a psychologist.
A court date was set for March 2 where the judge set bail at $10,000. Turnello was unable to post bail.
Victims of Sexual Abuse
Research shows that between 7% and 12% of children in the United States are sexually abused at some time during their childhood. Acts of sexual abuse against children are committed by an array of perpetrators. Regrettably, there are many instances where children entrust their abusers.
People in positions of power, such as doctors and psychologists, are able to manipulate young children and take advantage of them. Children are often scared to come forward about their abuse. As a result, the acts continue against them and others for an extended time before the allegations are brought to light.
When children are abused by others, they often suffer an array of mental and emotional consequences. The impacts can last well into their adult lives. Children who are harmed by others, especially people that they trust, deserve justice. It is crucial that they reach out to a sexual abuse lawyer in Danvers as soon as possible.
